Fault Line (12).png

All three of us are coming to FaultLine having worked for larger theater companies in different administrative capacities. While that means we have some mad skillz, it also means we haven’t had the chance to step up to the plate and artistically lead an organization. We’ve all been waiting for an opportunity like this and we are over the moon to be co-leading FaultLine into its next chapter.

We have put in some major love, sweat, and beers into this company prior to this change and are committed to keeping the spirit of the FaultLine you know and love: empowering emerging artists and works that lie at the intersection of pop culture and politics.

For every theater company, this year has been a time for deep introspection and a re-evaluation of what theater means now. It’s a time to re-define who theater is for, both behind-the-curtain and in front of it.

We are firm believers that opportunities (leadership, artistic, administrative) should not be based on being in the “right” place at the “right” time, knowing the “right” people or having the “right” amount of experience on your resume. We believe that theater should be for everyone, artists and audiences alike.

And most importantly, we believe in a future where live theater will thrive again. Until that day, we look forward to continuing to do what FaultLine does best: rolling with the punches and creating form-breaking and relevant new work.

But wait, hang on, how does this co-leadership thing work?

Who was the first Artistic Director of FaultLine?

Answer: Everyone!

FaultLine’s origins and history are based on a co-leadership model. Each of us will take part in the artistic vision, voice and planning while also holding a key role in the company. It’s like a tripod or a tricycle or a bra with a lot of straps! The more support, the better.

See all that stuff in the middle? That’s the “co” part but we’re down to add more circles to this diagram. Let’s “co” this party up!

And guess what? It also rotates (we don’t know how to show you that part but it does). The people rotate in and out of it every 3-5 years. That means no one person holds a leadership position indefinitely.
